Jason Sanjay’s ‘Sigma’ gets U/A 16+ certificate ahead of October release

‘Sigma’, the upcoming directorial debut of Chief Minister Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay, is set to arrive in theatres on October 2, with the film completing its censor formalities ahead of the release.

The Sundeep Kishan-starrer has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. Information available through the CBFC indicates that the film has a runtime of approximately two hours and 20 minutes.

Although the certification details were updated on September 24, the makers announced the development only on Tuesday, saying the film was ready to “ignite the screens”.

Produced by Subaskaran under the Lyca Productions banner, ‘Sigma’ was originally scheduled to release on July 31. The theatrical date was subsequently pushed back. Reports at the time suggested that the makers wanted to avoid a potential clash with Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’, which was then expected to release after facing delays related to its censor certification.

Faria Abdullah plays the female lead opposite Sundeep Kishan. The supporting cast includes Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Magalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar, Kamalesh and Kiran Konda. Kaleel Raja, Sanjeev S and Ajaiy Ashok have contributed additional screenplay work.

The makers have described the project as a new cinematic experience, while details of the complete plot have largely been kept under wraps. Reports suggest that the story combines action, heist and comedy elements against a backdrop involving gambling and drugs.

The technical crew includes composer Thaman S, cinematographer Krishnan Vasant and editor Praveen KL. Venkat and Silva have choreographed the film’s action sequences. With the certification now complete, the film is heading towards its October 2 theatrical release.
