Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s ongoing legal fight over his music rights intensified at the Madras High Court regarding the film ‘Dude’, which allegedly used and altered his classic songs, ‘Karuththa Machan’ and ‘Nooru Varusham,’ without authorization.
While the defense argued they acquired the rights through music labels like Sony Music, who in turn acquired them from Echo, the court recently made a pivotal demand.
The judge postponed issuing an order, requesting that the composer’s legal team submit clear evidence of the “actual harm” or impact caused by the unauthorized usage.
This directive comes amidst Ilaiyaraaja’s prolonged efforts to secure greater control over his extensive and iconic musical catalog.
