Director S Shankar has recently expressed his outrage on social media over the unauthorised use of scenes from Su Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel “Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari“. The filmmaker holds the copyright for the novel.
The Director accused the makers of an unnamed upcoming film of plagiarising key scenes from the novel, particularly highlighting a recently released trailer.
In his post, Shankar made it clear that he is the official copyright holder of the “Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari” novel and that many scenes from it are being used without his permission. He took offence to a particular scene featured in a recent movie trailer.
“As the copyright holder of Su Venkatesan’s iconic Tamil novel ‘Veera Yuga Nayagan Vel Paari‘, I’m disturbed to see key scenes being ripped off and used without permission in many movies. Really upset to see an important key scene from the novel in a recent movie trailer,” wrote Shankar.
In his post, Shankar also issued a stern warning to those involved in unauthorised adaptations of “Vel Paari“. He urged filmmakers and creators to respect intellectual property rights.
“Kindly refrain from using scenes from the novel in movies, web series, and any medium. Respect creators’ rights! Refrain from unauthorized adaptations of scenes. Refrain from infringement or face legal action,” his post read.
