Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has put an end to rampant speculation, unequivocally stating that his upcoming film, ‘Coolie,’ starring Superstar Rajinikanth, will not be a part of his much-celebrated Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
This clarification comes amidst swirling rumors, intensified by recent reports of Kamal Haasan’s potential voiceover in the film.
“This is not like ‘Vikram’; this is a separate film. It doesn’t fit into my universe,” Kanagaraj affirmed in a recent interview.
He further emphasized that ‘Coolie’ is a personal project, crafted specifically for Rajinikanth, and that incorporating other stars from his universe simply wouldn’t be fair to the narrative.
“Vikram should not be done by Rajini sir; similarly, ‘Coolie’ should not be done by Kamal sir. Because these stories were written for them. It would not be fair to include anyone else in this, like a treasure,” he stated emotionally.
‘Coolie,’ which is scheduled for an August 14th release, has generated immense excitement, with expectations peaking as the release date nears.
The film reportedly revolves around Rajinikanth’s character, Deva, a former gold smuggler who seeks to reclaim his past power.
