CM Vijay offers prayers at Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple during Karnataka visit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK president Vijay visited the renowned Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple in Karnataka on Friday, offering prayers at one of South India’s most revered pilgrimage centres.

Vijay arrived in Mangaluru from New Delhi before travelling by road to Kollur in Udupi district under tight security arrangements coordinated by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police. His visit drew considerable attention from devotees and supporters who gathered along the route and near the temple premises to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister.

Temple authorities received Vijay upon his arrival and facilitated special prayers in accordance with customary temple rituals. Sources said he spent time at the shrine seeking the blessings of Goddess Mookambika before departing after the darshan. As part of the temple rituals, Vijay presented a silver sword weighing around 1.6 kilograms to Goddess Mookambika, a traditional offering regarded as a symbol of devotion and reverence at the shrine.

The visit assumes significance as it is Vijay’s first trip to the famed temple since assuming office as Chief Minister. Political observers also noted that he joins a select group of Tamil Nadu chief ministers, including former leaders M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, who visited the temple while serving in office.
