மூத்த சினிமா பத்திரிகையாளர் திரு.ராமமூர்த்தி அவர்கள் இன்று (26-3-23) மாலை குரோம்பேட்டையில் உள்ள தனது வீட்டில் காலமானார். அவருக்கு வயது 88. ஆரம்ப காலத்தில் சுதேசமித்திரன் என்ற தினசரி பத்திரிகையில் 5 ஆண்டு காலம் உதவி ஆசிரியராக பணியாற்றிய திரு. ராமமூர்த்தி அவர்கள் பிறகு இந்தியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் குழுமத்தின் வெளியீடுகளில் ஒன்றான ‘சினிமா எக்ஸ்பிரஸ்’ பத்திரிகையில் ஆசிரியர் பொறுப்பேற்று தொடர்ந்து 23 ஆண்டுகள் பணியாற்றியுள்ளார். இந்தியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் குழுமத்தில் இருந்து ஓய்வு பெற்ற பிறகு ஜெயா டி.வி.யில் 5 ஆண்டு காலம் ‘தேன் கிண்ணம்’ என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியையும் நடத்தி சினிமா துறையிலும், பத்திரிகை துறையிலும் புகழ் பெற்று விளங்கியவர் ஆவார். தமிழக அரசின் ‘கலைமாமணி’ விருது உட்பட பல விருதுகள் பெற்றுள்ளார் திரு. ராமமூர்த்தி.
மூத்த பத்திரிகையாளர். தொலைக்காட்சி மற்றும் சமூக வலைதளங்கள் வருவதற்கு முன், சினிமாக்கென இருந்த பத்திரிகைகள் மொத்தம் 38 தான்!
அதில் சினிமா எக்ஸ்பிரஸ்’ம் ஒன்று. நடிகர், நடிகைகள், இயக்குனர்கள் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப கலைஞர்கள் சினிமா எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் பத்திரிகையில் தனது செய்திகள் வருவதற்காக காத்துக் கிடப்பார்கள். இவர்கள் வந்தது பிறகு தான் சினிமா சம்பந்தமான நிகழ்ச்சியே ஆரம்பமாகும். அந்த அளவுக்கு சினிமா துறையில் மிகப்பெரிய பத்திரிக்கையாளராக, மிகப்பெரிய ஜாம்பவானாக, 90’களில் திகழ்ந்தவர் “சினிமா எக்ஸ்பிரஸ்” ராமமூர்த்தி அவர்கள்!

Cinema Express Ramamurthy – as he was popularly known in the film industry was a veteran Journalist who had served Sudesamithran in the capacity of its Deputy Editor for about 5 years.
After he assumed office as the Editor of Cinema Express, a film magazine published every fortnight, he scaled news heights in bringing out the magazine in a thoroughly professional manner. During his regime, he was close with the likes of Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal, Rajni and even with next generation actors like Vijay, Prasanth etc .
He used to hold Cinema Express Awards Function at the Jawarlal Nehru Indoor Stadium and he was undoubtedly one of the pioneers in organising such film based awards function.
He used to regularly attend Press Shows at Film Chamber Auditorium, Mena Theatre, Goodluck (now Le Magic Lantern) etc.
Ramamurthy Sir, Late M. G. Vallaban (Filmalaya) and Ayyappa Prasad (Screen) formed a trio who used to sit in the last row at the back in preview shows.
