Director Cibi Chakaravarthi has spoken about the disappointment he experienced after losing the opportunity to direct Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film.
The filmmaker had initially been announced as the director of the project when it was tentatively known as “Thalaivar 173”. Later, Raaj Kamal Films International announced Ashwath Marimuthu as the director, with the project eventually receiving the title “Dharman”.
Speaking at a recent event, Cibi said the development affected him deeply. During that difficult period, director Atlee contacted him and encouraged him to move forward.
Cibi recalled Atlee reminding him of his success as a filmmaker and encouraging him not to remain discouraged. The conversation helped Cibi regain his confidence and return to work.
Cibi also praised Atlee for his supportive nature and expressed his determination to make another film that would make him proud.
Cibi began his career working as an assistant or associate director under Atlee. He later made his directorial debut with “Don”, starring Sivakarthikeyan, which became a successful theatrical release. He is also expected to collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan again.
