Director Venkat Prabhu is reportedly moving ahead with plans for ‘Chennai 28 Part 3’, with industry sources suggesting he has been scouting locations in Thailand.
The ‘Chennai 28’ series has enjoyed lasting popularity since the original film’s release in 2007. While the first two installments were set in Chennai and a village backdrop respectively, the third chapter is said to take the story beyond India.
Reports indicate that cricket will continue to play an important role in the narrative, alongside the friendship, humor, and emotional moments that defined the earlier films.
Sources also claim the screenplay has already been completed during a writing session in Sri Lanka, and Thailand is now being considered as one of the primary shooting locations.
Venkat Prabhu was earlier expected to begin his science-fiction film with Sivakarthikeyan. However, that project reportedly requires more extensive pre-production, allowing ‘Chennai 28 Part 3’ to move forward first.
Although the makers have yet to make an official announcement, the possibility of another reunion featuring the beloved gang has generated excitement among fans.
