‘Bad Girl’ theatrical release date announced amidst buzz

Varsha Bharath’s directorial debut, ‘Bad Girl’, produced by acclaimed filmmakers Vetrimaaran and Anurag Kashyap, is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025.

The announcement comes after the film garnered significant attention, including a premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam earlier this year.

‘Bad Girl’, starring Anjali Sivaraman in the lead role, has been a subject of discussion since its teaser release in January.

While it received praise for its bold portrayal of a coming-of-age drama, it also sparked some controversy, particularly regarding its depiction of certain communities and themes.

Despite the debates, the film has managed to maintain a strong buzz, with its teaser crossing over 10 lakh views on YouTube.

The film’s music is composed by the renowned Hindi music director Amit Trivedi, marking his debut in Tamil cinema. The first single, ‘Please Yenna Appadi Paakadhey’, was released in March.

‘Bad Girl’ has already received international recognition, winning the NETPAC Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
