Anirudh reveals he once doubted Aaluma Doluma

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has revealed that he was initially far from convinced about the potential of Aaluma Doluma, the popular track from Ajith Kumar’s ‘Vedalam’.

Speaking in a recent interview with Billboard India, Anirudh was asked whether he had ever felt that one of his compositions was not good enough. He said there had been several such occasions and recalled Aaluma Doluma as one song that particularly concerned him.

According to the composer, he was worried that the track would not connect with Ajith’s fans. His doubts were so strong that he contacted director Siva just before the song was scheduled to be filmed and suggested postponing the shoot.

However, the director decided to proceed with the planned filming. Anirudh later learned that Ajith and other members of the film’s team were happy with the song. At that point, the composer feared that his concerns might have been justified.

The song eventually proved him wrong. Aaluma Doluma went on to become one of the most recognisable tracks from ‘Vedalam’ and developed a strong following among Ajith fans. Its energetic kuththu style also helped it become a popular choice at celebrations and public events.

The song has since crossed 148 million views on YouTube, according to the figures cited in the report, placing it among the most-watched Tamil songs on the platform. It also remains one of the biggest musical hits associated with Ajith’s career.

Anirudh’s recollection highlights how even songs that later become major hits can sometimes leave their creators uncertain before audiences get to hear them.
