Aishwarya Lekshmi says leaving social media has turned out to be one of the more positive decisions she has made, with the actor revealing that she feels calmer and more settled more than a year after stepping away from the platforms.
Lekshmi quit social media in September 2025 after feeling that maintaining an online presence was beginning to interfere with her work, creativity and enjoyment of everyday experiences. Looking back at the decision now, she says she is happier with where she is in life.
During an appearance on The Puja Talwar Show, the actor explained that many of the issues that originally prompted her decision to leave have not disappeared. However, she no longer has to constantly watch them or allow them to affect her.
Lekshmi had previously spoken about how social media had begun influencing even ordinary moments. She found herself thinking about how experiences would look online instead of simply living them. Staying away has given her the freedom to enjoy such moments without the pressure to turn them into content.
At the same time, the actress recognises that social media can be hugely beneficial for performers and independent creators. She pointed to the opportunities available to people who can now build audiences and showcase their talent without depending entirely on traditional industry systems.
For Lekshmi, however, the personal cost had become too high, and she felt it was time to step away. Her career has continued to move forward despite her absence from social media. She recently appeared in ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ and ‘Aasha’, while her Netflix series ‘#Love’, directed by Balaji Mohan and co-starring Arjun Das, is currently streaming. She is also set to appear in the Telugu film ‘SYG – Sambarala Yeti Gattu’.
