Actor Aari Arjunan is set to embark on a significant cinematic journey, portraying the veteran politician and PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss in an upcoming biopic titled ‘Ayya – The Lion of Tamil Nadu’.
The film will be directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Cheran and is scheduled to go on floors this September.
Aari Arjunan expressed his excitement about the role, revealing that Cheran, who gave him his acting break, approached him for this committed project.
The actor stated he only later discovered he would be embodying Dr. Ramadoss, a role he calls one of the most challenging due to the lack of visual references from the politician’s younger days.
The film aims to shed light on Dr. Ramadoss’s untold journey, focusing on his tireless efforts for societal upliftment and significant historical events, particularly the 1987 Vanniyar reservation agitation, which led to the formation of the PMK and the granting of 20% reservation for the Vanniyar community.
Aari Arjunan emphasized that the film will not glorify any single group but will present true events from Dr. Ramadoss’s life.
Produced by GKM Tamil Kumaran, the movie will have cinematography by Ekhambram, music by Sundaramurthy KS, and editing by Pon Kathiresh.
