The Great Indian Kitchen – Review by Naveen

A faithful remake

The Great Indian Kitchen

– Review

The movie is about a newly married young girl played by Aishwarya Rajesh. She gets married to Rahul Ravindran, a teacher from an orthodox family.

Rahul is a self-centered man who expects his wife to do all the household chores. On the other hand Aishwarya Rajesh is from a modern family who is accustomed to such situations.

However, she tries to blend in with the family as much as she can. But things take a turn when Aishwarya’s mother-in-law leaves their home for a few months.

What happens during this period and how it affects Aishwarya Rajesh forms the rest of the story.

Director Kannan has stayed true to the original version of the movie and has executed the movie in a neat manner.

Aishwarya Rajesh is tailor-made for the role and convincing as the struggling wife who tries to adjust in the family. Rahul Ravindra has tried his best to deliver in his role.

However, he could have done better in a few crucial moments. Rest of the cast including Yogi Babu who appears in a cameo have all done their part well.

Balasubramaniem’s camera has captured every frame in an effective manner. Music by Jerry Silverster Vincent adds more strength to the movie.

Rating: 3.5/5
