In between life and death
Thandatti
– Review
A 57-year-old woman named Thangaponnu hailing from Kidaripatti area of Theni district, goes missing.
The story begins with people searching for Thanga Ponnu and ends at the point of finding her Thandatti (a type of earring) which goes missing after her death.
The story follows why Thangaponnu goes missing, how she dies, how one of her jewels, Thandatti, gets stolen, who stole it and who finds it forms the rest of the story.
Director Ram Sangaiah has an interesting plot and has delivered it with a flavour of nativity. The director has emphasised on various human emotions. The story telling is very crisp and is multilayered.
Pasupathi as the cop is impressive in his role. Be it the scenes where he beats up the criminal or the emotional portions, he delivers a top notch performance.
Rohini on the other hand has delivered a power house performance. With the entire movie surrounding her character she has breathed life into it.
Vivek Prasanna is seen in a new role and has delivered what was expected from him. Rest of the cast are okayish and have done their part as expected.
The movie is technically sound as well. Sam C S’ background score is good and is complimented well by the camera work by Mahesh Muthuswami. Songs by K S Sundara Moorthy gels well with the theme of the movie.
