Maayanadhi Movie Review by Naveen

Dad or darling?

– Review

Parents shower their children with love and what happens when the latter break the trust the former have on them? This is the idea behind ‘Maayanadhi’, helmed by Ashok Thiagarajan.

Set in the backdrop of Mayiladuthurai, ‘Maayanadhi’ is about a caring father and his only daughter, who is the apple of his eye.

Anbarasan (Aadukalam Naren) is a widower and his life revolves around his daughter Kausalya (Venba). She is a brilliant student and she aspires to become a doctor after completing schooling.

Kausalya develops a relationship with an autodriver Senthil (Abi Saravanan), who takes her to the school daily. Though Anbarasan’s brother informs him about Kausalya’s affair, Anbarasan doesn’t believe it and blindly trusts his daughter.

However, when Kausalya and Senthil decide to take their relationship to the next level, Anbarasan comes to know about it and takes a drastic decision.

Aadukalam Naren has nailed it in his typical style, while the lead pair- Abi Saravanan and Venba- have delivered goods. Appukutty is apt choice for his role (hero’s friend).

The film is good in parts and certain scenes have been portrayed in a touching manner. There is space for entertainment too. Had the script been more intact, ‘Maayanadhi’ would have done a magic with the audience.
