“Maaman” Movie Review by Naveen

Family bonding

“Maaman”

– Review

Soori is someone who respects the women in his life – his sister Swasika and his mother Geetha Kailasam.
Soori’s sister Swasika has to bear the brunt of society’s sharp words because she has been childless for a decade. When she gets pregnant and gives birth to Prageeth Sivan, Soori is more present than her husband Baba Baskar.
When Prageeth Sivan grows up over-pampered by his mama Soori and the rest of the family, it becomes a problem for Soori when he gets married to Aishwarya Lekshmi.
Prageeth’s tantrums always overpower Aishwarya’s repeated requests for some personal space with her husband. This paves the way for familial conflicts. What happens between the families forms the core plot of the movie.
Directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, the film keeps toggling between different emotions in a  relationship.
The first half is excellent, as it sets things in motion so beautifully and also keeps the fun factor between the characters rolling efficiently. The conflict is introduced in the interval and the movie ventures in to familiar boundaries.
Soori has done excellent work once again, and he has a terrific role to play. It is interesting to note that he has penned the story himself which might have made it intersting for him to get into the character.
After him, Swasika has done a phenomenal job in the film and is very promising.
Aishwarya Lekshmi is a great fit as well and this is another role that offers so much for her to perform from start to finish.
Prageeth is the big plus point of the film, and he has done a fantastic job in his very first outing.
Rest of the cast including Raj Kiran, Viji Chandraskehar, Geetha Kailasam and Baba Baskar have all done their part well.
Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music compliments the movie well. Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are good as well.

Rating: 4/5
