“Love Oh Love”

Movie Review

‘Love Oh Love’ is a Gen-Z romantic comedy that attempts to blend relationship drama with a commentary on modern financial pressures.
Directed by Magesh Rajendran, the film revolves around Raghuvaran (Pavish Narayan), a young man whose life spirals into debt and frustration, largely due to the expensive lifestyle associated with his relationship with Avantika (Naga Durga).
When he decides to walk away, he challenges her to experience the responsibilities he faces, leading to a role-reversal premise that drives the story.
The film’s strongest aspect is its contemporary setup. Unlike many conventional love stories, it uses credit cards, spending habits, financial stress, and relationship expectations as central conflicts. This gives the narrative a relatable foundation for younger audiences navigating similar realities. Director Magesh Rajendran has also stated that the film aims to discuss economic struggles through the lens of romance.
Pavish delivers an energetic performance and carries the film with ease in several comic and emotional scenes. Naga Durga complements him well, and the chemistry between the leads remains one of the film’s major strengths. Veterans such as Selvaraghavan and K. S. Ravikumar add credibility and experience to the proceedings.
However, the screenplay does not always make the most of its interesting premise. Some situations feel exaggerated to prove a point, and the film occasionally slips into familiar gender-stereotype territory instead of exploring its themes with greater nuance. The humour works at most places.
The music, cinematography, and colourful presentation help maintain a breezy tone, even when the narrative becomes predictable. ‘Love Oh Love’ is an easy-going romantic entertainer that tries to connect with Gen-Z audiences through themes of love, money, and responsibility.
While the fresh premise and lead performances keep it watchable, the film ultimately settles for a familiar rom-com formula instead of fully exploring the social ideas at its core. It works best as a light weekend watch.
