Truly Devotional

“Kannappa”

– Review

‘Kannappa’ delves into the revered tale of Thinnadu played by Vishnu Manchu, a tribal hunter in the 2nd century who begins as an atheist but embarks on a transformative journey to become one of Lord Shiva’s most ardent devotees.
The story culminates in his legendary act of offering his own eyes to stop the bleeding of the Shiva Lingam, showcasing unwavering faith and ultimate sacrifice.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, ‘Kannappa’ is a film made with genuine devotion and ambition to bring a powerful mythological tale to the big screen.
It truly shines in its emotionally charged climax, driven by Vishnu Manchu’s dedicated performance and the impactful appearances of its star-studded cameos.
Vishnu Manchu’s emotional depth and intensity in the film’s final 30-40 minutes, specifically during the iconic eye-offering sequence is outstanding.
The film boasts a star-studded lineup of cameos, with Prabhas (as Rudra), Akshay Kumar (as Lord Shiva), and Mohanlal (as Kirata).
Prabhas’s entry and his scenes are described as having a thunderous aura, while Akshay Kumar’s presence is confident and fitting. Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati also adds elegance.
Stephen Devassy’s music has been commended for heightening the emotional beats, particularly during the climactic sequences, and enhancing the overall spiritual atmosphere.
Rest of the technical aspects in the movie including the VfX have come out well.

Rating: 4/5
