Kalvan – Review

A tale of human emotions

Kalvan

– Review

The government gives a few lakhs to those who die because of elephant trampling near Sathyamangalam.

GV Prakash and his friend are engaged in petty theft. Both plan to get this money from the government.

As a part of their plan, they adopt Bharathiraja as their grandfather and plan to get money by having the old man trampled to death by an elephant.

The rest of the story of the film is whether their plan works out or not.

Director PV Shankar has took up a good concept and has presented it in a decent manner.

However, a little more focus on the screenplay would have made the movie all the more enjoyable.

The authenticity of the tradition and culture of the particular region is established well.

GV Prakash is good as the street smart thief. His energy reflects on the screen and is good to watch.

The biggest strength of the movie is the performances by Bharathiraja and Ivana.

The way in which Bharathiraja depicts his character is truly commendable and he aces in the scene where he recollects his beautiful past.

Ivana gets a meaty role and has delivered an absolutely neat performance. Dheena as GV Prakash’s friend has done his part well.

Rest of the cast have also delivered what was expected from them.

Music by G V Prakash Kumar is pleasant. Camerawork by P V Shankar is good and has captured the landscapes in a beautiful manner.
