“Diesel”

– Movie Review

The story follows Azhagar (Harish Kalyan), a man deeply connected to the coastal community, and his mentor Sakthivel (Sai Kumar).
Together, they combat the illegal diesel trade that threatens the livelihood of local fishermen.
Their efforts lead to a series of confrontations with powerful adversaries, culminating in a high-stakes battle for justice.
Shanmugam Muthusamy’s direction brings a raw, gritty feel to the narrative, aiming to shed light on the socio-political issues surrounding the diesel mafia.
While the intent is commendable, the execution occasionally falters in maintaining narrative momentum.
Harish Kalyan steps into a rugged, action-oriented role, showcasing his versatility. His portrayal of Azhagar is earnest, capturing the character’s emotional depth and physicality.
Harish Kalyan’s commitment to the role stands out, earning appreciation for his performance.
Athulya Ravi plays a pivotal role, contributing to the narrative’s emotional arc. Her performance complements the lead, adding depth to the storyline.
Veteran actor Sai Kumar delivers a solid performance as Azhagar’s mentor. His portrayal adds gravitas to the film, providing a strong emotional anchor amidst the action sequences.
The supporting cast, including Vinay Rai, Ananya, and others, provide adequate performances that support the main narrative.
The cinematography by M.S. Prabhu captures the essence of North Chennai’s coastal landscape, adding authenticity to the setting.
Dhibu Ninan Thomas’s music score complements the film’s intense atmosphere. The background score enhances the emotional and action sequences.
