‘Black’ – Movie Review by Naveen
A neat sci-fic attempt
‘Black’
– Review
Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar book a villa far away from the city and one fine weekend they decide to stay in that villa which hasn’t really finished all the work.
While staying alone in that villa property, certain unnatural things start to unfold, and they notice that there was another house on that property that had occupants.
The mystery behind that house and how the couple survives that lonely, terrifying night forms the core plot of the movie.
Directed by K G Balasubramani, the film explores concepts of multiple timelines and parallel realities.
While it takes some time to delve into the core plot, once it does, it picks up momentum and demands your full attention.
What works to the great benefit of the movie is that, for most parts it tries to stick to the concept of time loop and alternate realities.
Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar are good in their parts, and carry out the tense moments of the film well.
With a limited cast, and majorly shouldered by Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar, the lead actors effortlessly play their parts.
Jiiva delivers a strong performance as Vasanth, portraying the confusion and fear of a man trapped in an inexplicable situation.
Priya Bhavani Shankar, as Aaranya, is equally compelling, adding emotional depth to her character as she grapples with the surreal events unfolding around her.
The film also benefits from Sam CS’s good score. Cinematographer Gokul Benoy uses lighting and camera angles to create a haunting and immersive atmosphere. Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are appreciable as well.
