Regina Cassandra will be part of a multilingual, which has been titled ‘Soorpanagai’ in Tamil and ‘Nene Naa…’ in Telugu. The movie is directed by Caarthick Raju and the first look was released by Vijay Sethupathi.
Talking about the movie, the director says, “Soorpanagai is an interesting character in Ramayana. We have read about how her parents consulted astrological charts to slot an auspicious time and star for her birth. She went through various emotional upheavals, has experienced love and hatred. But she was quite brutal, too.”
Giving more details, he says, “Regina is playing an archaeologist in the film. As part of her work, she unearths something that triggers a series of events. The film is about the good and bad outcome of her actions.” It is learnt her character has got some grey shades to it.
As revealed by the director, certain parts of ‘Soorpanagai’ have been set against the backdrop of the 1920s. Apart from Regina, it also features Sathish and Akshara Gowda in the lead roles.
