Advance ticket sales for CM Vijay’s upcoming political action drama ‘Jana Nayagan’ have begun on a strong note after the film’s release plans were delayed earlier due to certification issues.
Originally scheduled for a Pongal release, the film was postponed following its certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). After receiving clearance earlier this month, the makers confirmed a new theatrical release date of July 23.
According to early industry estimates, the film collected around ₹6.7 crore in domestic advance bookings, including blocked seats, within hours of sales opening. The Tamil version has led the bookings, while other language versions are expected to gather momentum closer to release.
The strongest advance sales have reportedly come from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, reflecting widespread anticipation for the film.
Industry trackers will closely watch whether ‘Jana Nayagan’ can challenge existing Tamil cinema opening-day box office records after its theatrical release.
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, and Nassar, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
