Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu – Review by Naveen

Rise of another gangster in Kollywood

Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu

– Review

Muthu (Simbu) is a B.Sc graduate who is struggling in his village. His mother sends him to Mumbai to work at a parotta stall.
Things take an unexpected turn when at the parotta stall as the migrant labourers are also forced to kill people.
Simbu is forced to wield a weapon during one instance and there is no turning back after that.
How he then gradually becomes one of the notorious gangsters in Mumbai forms the story.
Gautham Vasudev Menon takes his own sweet time to establish the characters in the first half.
The movie reaches the peak during the interval block, which is one of the major highlights of the film.
The movie is Simbu’s show all the way. He has once again proved what a fine actor he is.
The character has several layers and Simbu has played it to the point.
Siddhi Idnani makes a decent debut and looks perfect in her role.
Neeraj Madhav as Sridharan steals the show with his performance. This is AR Rahman’s best work recently, the BGM in the interval block is mindblowing.
Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni has done a brilliant work with the visuals. If the second half had been better, the movie would have been on a different level altogether.
Rating: 3.75/5
