Love and politics

Uyir Thamizhukku

– Review

Anandaraj, the treasurer of a political party and a former minister, is killed by mysterious persons early one morning in Chennai.

It is alleged that Ameer, the district secretary of the opposition party who is in love with Anandaraj’s daughter Chandini Sreedharan , committed the murder.

Chandini Sreedharan also believes this and hates Ameer. How Ameer finally gets rid of the murder charge against him and marries Chandini Sreedharan forms he core plot of the story.

Director Adham Bava have tries to convey a love story with a political background and has done a decent job with it.

The director has incorporated some contemporary politics in the plot and it has worked out well.

The story is disjointed and the screenplay could have been a little more interesting.

Ameer has delivered an earnest performance in his role. Be it as the politician or the estranged lover, he has done his part well.

On the other hand Chandini Sreedharan who is making her comeback in Kollywood has delivered what was expected from her. She shines in the love portions in the first half and is good in the second half.

Rest of the cast including Anandaraj, Raj Kapoor and Imman Annachi make their mark.

Music by Vidyasagar gels well with the theme of the movie and camerawork by Devaraj is good.
