Udanpirappe

– Review

Vairavan (Sasikumar) believes in instant justice. His sister Mathangi’s (Jyothika) husband (Samuthirakani) is someone who wants things to take place in a legal way.
Though the families were together in the initial stages, an untoward incident separates them.
For fifteen years they have not even talked with each other. Sasikumar’s son returns from foreign after his studies.
Though Jyothika says that she will get her daughter married to whoever she likes, she feels that getting her daughter married to Sasikumar’s son will bring the family back together.
Jyothika impresses with her performance. She has minimal dialogues and scores more with her expressions.
Sasikumar’s character is rugged and also sentimental. He has carried the role well.
Samuthirakani goes by the rule book and delivers a decent performance. Director Saravanan speaks about family values, relationships and ethics in the movie.
A few subtle social messages are also sprinkled here and there. Imman’s BGM is electric and sentimental at the same time.
Velraj’s camera has captured the landscape of Pudukkottai beautifully.  Udanpirappe is a family festival during this pooja holidays.
