Neat murder thriller
‘Tharunam’
– Review
Kishen Das is a CRPF officer who is on a sabbatical, and meets Smruthi Venkat at a wedding.
As romance brews between them, on the sidelines, Smruthu is dealing with overtly one-side romantic advances from her neighbour Raj Ayappa.
During one such instance, Smruthi loses her control and harms Raj Ayappa, hitting him dead. Now, it is up to Smruthi and Kishen to cover up the murder.
Directed by Arvindh Srinivasan, the movie is a smart film, with a cat-and-mouse chase like screenplay keeping the audience engaged.
The director maintains a focused narrative, avoiding unnecessary subplots and contrived investigations.
Kishen Das delivers a strong performance as a man trained in covert operations yet caught in a moral quandary.
Smruthi Venkat portrays her role with a blend of vulnerability and strength. Their on-screen chemistry is appreciable as well.
Raj Ayyappa and Bala Saravanan have done their part well.
Darbuka Siva’s musical score complements the film’s tone and is supported well by the cinematography. Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are good as well.
