Shiva shines in this sequel
“Soodhu Kavvum 2”
– Review
Shiva and his gang are the predecessors to Vijay Sethupathi and co. from ‘Soodhu Kavvum’.
In fact, it is Shiva and his accomplices who chalk out the basic rules of “kednapping”, that the latter follows.
With Shiva back after completing his stint in jail, and Karunakaran now the finance minister of the state, the sequel attempts to create the black comedy drama akin to ‘Soodhu Kavvum’.
Directed by S J Arjun, the base structure of the story and the political links are written decently, but it is the execution which is not up to the mark.
The comedy fails to click at most parts. The political portions are somewhat better.
There is enough scope for Shiva in this role tailor made for him. He has tried his best to present the character in a convincing manner.
Karunakaran gets a better role than the others and has done a decent job.
Rest of the cast including MS Bhaskar, Radha Ravi, Arul Doss, Yog Japee and Karate Karthi have all delivered what was expected from them.
Karthik K. Thillai’s camerawork is good and rest of the technical aspects are passable.
