Jithan Ramesh, who recently sprang a surprise with a role with different shades in Karthi-strarer ‘Japan’, is back with ‘Route No. 17’, a suspense thriller set in the backdrop of dense forest.
The movie produced by Dr. Amar Ramachandran of Neni Entartainment is helmed Abhilash G Devan, a former associate of popular Malayalam filmmaker Kannan Thampithanam. Anju Pandiya is the heroine, while Hareesh Peradi plays a key role.
Former minister Harish Peradi’s son Karthik goes to the jungle with his girlfriend Anju. Jithn Ramesh, who kidnaps the couple, keeps them in a cellar in the same area and tortures them.
As the police try to find the missing persons, it is revealed that many such mysterious incidents have taken place in that forest area. Who is Jithan Ramesh? Why is he doing this? That is the rest of the story of ‘Route No. 17’.
When we watch the film, we can see that everyone has put in a lot of hard work. Jithan Ramesh has performed well, so are Harish Peradi and Anju. While the first half of the film is action-packed, the second half is a bit of a letdown.
Jackie Johnson’s fight scenes are entertaining. Some logical mistakes could have been avoided and bit more detailing could have been done for each character.
The way art director Baypor Murali has designed the sets needs applause. Cinematographer Prasanth Pranavam has shot the scenes elegantly in a small space. Music composer Ouseppachan’s songs and background music have added strength to the film.
To sum it up, ‘Route No. 17’ has a few hiccups on the way but is a decent ride for thriller fans.
