Rebel – Review

Fight for rights

– Review

The movie is set in the 1990s and is based on the life of plantation workers in Munnar and the issues their children face in a college in Kerala’s Palakkad.

GV Prakash Kumar and his friends join a government college in Palakkad. The college offers a 25 percent quota for Tamil students from Munnar.

The Tamil students are ill-treated in the college by the members of the two student outfits in the college.

Vexed with the ill-treatment, the Tamil students launch a third political wing. Will they win the college elections? What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Directed by Nikesh RS, the story is decent as it’s based on a real story. But the content could have been conveyed in a better manner.

The movie primarily focuses on the problems faced by the Tamils.

G V Prakash puts up a decent performance as the ‘rebellious’ student. He has stayed true to the character and has delivered what was expected from him.

Mamitha Baiju has done a decent job in the brief role that she has got.

Karunas is good as the Tamil professor. Rest of the cast including Vennkatesh, Shalu Rahim, Irshad and Rajesh Sharma have also done their part well.

The songs composed by GV Prakash Kumar have come out well. The cinematography by Anukrishna Radhakrishnan is good.

Rating: 3.3/5
