Parole

– Review

Janaki Suresh is the mother of Linga and R S Karthik. Linga is in jail for committing several murders at young age.
Karthik does plumbing work and does not like his elder brother much. Janaki Suresh wants to give a mercy petition to the Governor seeking the early release of Linga, but dies before that.
Karthik brings out Linga on parole to do the final rites of Janaki Suresh. However, Karthik also has something else in mind.
What is it and what happens next forms the rest of the story. Director Dwarakh Raja has made the characters with several layers.
This keeps the audience engaged and the non-linear narrative also raises curiosity about what will happen next.
Dwarakh’s writing is one of the major strengths of the movie.
Linga gets a role filled with different emotions and does a neat job in delivering it in a convincing manner.
He has shown the violent nature of this character with his body language and expressions.
On the other hand Karthik plays the role of a jealous younger brother. He delivers a natural performance.
Janaki Suresh gives the much needed impact as the mother. Rest of the cast including Kalpikka, Monisha Murali, Vinodhini and others have all done their part well.
Music by Rajkumar Amal is raw and suits the theme of the movie well. Mahesh Thirunavukarasu’s camera has captured North Chennai effectively.

Rating: 3.8/5
