Pannikutty – Review by Naveen

Harmless humour

– Review

Karunakaran’s life is filled with problems. He is so unlucky that even his attempts to end his life are not successful.
Not just his life but even his family members do not have a good time. His sister Shathiga has a troubled marriage, father is an alcoholic, mother does not even care about anything.
One day he visits a seer along with this friend. His life takes a turn after that and things start to happen in a positive manner.
However, there comes a hurdle in the form of an accident as Karunakaran runs over a piglet. The seer asks Karunakaran to run over the piglet again to turn around his luck.
But the piglet is under the protection of Yogi Babu. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
Director Anucharan has delivered a breezy rural comedy drama which is good fun. Situational humour is its biggest strength.
Casting is one of the biggest strengths of the film. Karunakaran as the village youngster is apt for the role. The innocence in his face is convincing for the character.
Though Yogi Babu has very little screen space he makes quite an impact. All the other actors have delivered what was expected from their characters.
A more impactful climax would have made the film all the more better.
Music by Krishna Kumar is good. Sathish Murugan’s camerawork is impressive.

Rating: 3.5/5
