Oh My Dog

– Review

Director Sarov Shanmugam has delivered a movie keeping the young audience in mind. There is no unnecessary grandeur or hype in the story. Things unfold in a natural way.

However, the director has delivered an important message. Arun Vijay is an ordinary family man from Ooty who lives with wife Mahima Nambiar and son Arnav Vijay.

He gets loan to make his son study in a reputed international school. Arnav finds a blind puppy and brings it home.

He names it as Simbha and trains it. Meanwhile, Vinay Rai is a rich person who trains his dogs to participate in international dog shows.  How is Simbha related to Vinay and what problems does this leads to forms the core plot of the story.

It is hard to believe that this is Arnav’s debut movie. He has delivered a natural performance. He has expressed several emotions which come at the age with ease.

Arun Vijay as Arnav’s father shines as usual. He delivers a convincing performance as a caring family man. Mahima Nambiar does complete justice to her character. Vijayakumar as Arnav’s grandfather has breathed life into the character.

Vinay as the rich antagonist fits the role like a T and is impressive as well. Nivas K Prasanna’s music is one of the biggest strengths of the movie. Cinematography by Gopinath is top notch.

On the whole, Oh My Dog is like a whiff of fresh air which should be watched by the whole family.
