Oh Manapenne

– Review

Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavani Shankar meet during a marriage proposal arranged by their parents.

While Priya isn’t interested since she has dreams of a career and higher education, Harish is excited about his marriage because he gets a huge dowry.

This unconventional pair of the sharp and intelligent Priya and the dreamer Karthik end up becoming business partners. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

The story is interesting, of course, but what’s endearing about it is how director  Kaarthik Sundar narrates the journey of the two leads by bringing in friends and family members. Harish and Priya are perfectly cast.

Harish is fresh as Karthik and brings in a calmness to the role. Priya as the bold and brave Shruthi delivers a strong performance. Rest of the cast have also done their part well.

The movie is technically sound as well. Vishal Chandrasekhar’s BGM and songs are youthful and light. Krishnan Vasant’s cinematography is vibrant. The second half of the film tends to slow down a wee bit, but it is still a delight to watch.

Rating: 4/5
