All because of alcohol

Moothakudi

– Review

Residents of Moothakudi village along with KR Vijaya’s family go to a temple to perform puja.
There KR Vijaya’s son, son-in-law and lorry driver go to drink together. Due to the problem there, the lorry crashes and the occupants die. Only KR Vijaya, his younger brother Yar Kannan and his grandchildren survive the accident.
KR Vijaya decides to eliminate alcohol, which is the cause of such a tragic incident and imposes restrictions that no one should drink alcohol in the town, if they do, they will be ostracized from the town.
The villagers also agree to this and are living without drinking alcohol. They are also not allowed to sell alcohol in the town.
Meanwhile, businessman Raj Kapoor plans to build a liquor factory in the village and is trying to somehow get the people of the town to drink.
At this stage, KR Vijaya’s grandchildren grow up and become adults. Tarun Gopi is in love with Anvisha.
But Anvisha falls in love with Tarun Gopi’s younger brother Prakash Chandra.
This love problem not only affects the family but also the control so far maintained in the village. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
Director Ravi Bhargavan has made the story based on the problems faced due to drinking alcohol.
A little more focus on the writing and screenplay could have made the movie even more better.
Tarun Gopi has tried his best to carry the movie, and has somewhat succeeded in it. He goes overboard at times which could have been avoided.
On the other hand, Prakash Chandra’s character feels flat without much expression. Anvisha look good and she is impressive in her role.
KR Vijaya has brought in all her experience for the role and is convincing. Raj Kapoor has delivered his as usual performance.
Rest of the cast have also done their part in a satisfying manner. Cinematography by Kantha Ravichandran and music by J R Muruganandham is good.

Rating: 3.5/5
