A neat entertainer
“Thodarum”
– Review
Mohanlal is a taxi driver who is very fond of his black Ambassador car. He leads a happy life with his wife Shobana, son Thomas Mathew, and daughter Amritha Varshini.
One day, when his car meets with an accident, the mechanic misuses it for illegal activities. Following this, Mohanlal approaches the cops.
However, inspector Prakash Varma intervenes. Soon, Mohanlal is asked to drive the officers to a wedding and later to a deserted forest area, where unexpected events start to take place.
What happens next forms the core plot of the movie.
Director Tharun Moorthy has executed the story of K R Sunil in an effective manner.
The first half sets up the premise in a convincing manner and the momentum is carried out throughout the movie.
The director has avoided unnecessary mass moments and has stuck to realistic action sequences.
Mohanlal is in top form yet again and perfectly captures the simplicity and quiet dignity of an everyday man.
Shobana leaves a lasting impact with her composed and graceful presence in the limited screentime that she gets.
Prakash Varma is shrewd as the cunning police officer.
Binu Pappu, Thomas Mathew, and the rest of the supporting cast also do a neat job in their respective roles.
Shaji Kumar’s cinematography has captured the moods and settings of the movie in an effective manner.
Jakes Bejoy’s background score complements the story well. Rest of the technical aspects are good as well.
