Neat and nostalgic
Madha Gaja Raja
– Review
‘Madha Gaja Raja’ follows the story of Vishal attending a wedding at his school teacher’s house, where he reunites with his school gang.
One of his friends (Santhanam) is going through marriage issues, while the other two are involved in a case that concerns business tycoon Sonu Sood.
Vishal is a man who stands up for his friends. Be it his friend’s marriage issues or problems of life and death, he is just there.
When he clashes with Sonu Sood, who has connections with politicians, he faces an initial setback.
The rest of the story is about Vishal’s face-off with Soonu Sood and how he manages to defeat him and help his friends.
Directed by Sundar C, comedy is the biggest strength of the movie. The film which has been released almost after 12 years has many nostalgic templates that will take the audience on a trip down memory lane.
Comedy is the backbone of the film, and it delivers in spades. The first half is sprinkled with effective one-liners, while the latter half amplifies the humour through hilariously orchestrated sequences.
Vishal looks super fit in his boy next door look and delivered a neat performance. He has blended humour and heroism in a way that fits the film’s tone. Santhanam brings back the good old days with his one-liners.
Sonu Sood plays the routine villain who is defeated at the end by the hero. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Anjali do not have much to do.
Vijay Antony’s songs are impressive and the BGM for the movie is also good. Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are good as well.
