Maamanithan

– Review

Radhakrishnan (Vijay Sethupathi) is an auto driver who wants his kids to get good education and speak English.
With the money he makes from driving around, he won’t be able to enroll them in a better school. His main dream is to get them well educated.
And for that, he takes up another job that he’s naturally good at. However, his wife Savithri warns him regarding the perils of making a quick buck.
But he does not listen to her. When he finally lands in trouble, he runs away, as it’s the easiest option he can think of. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
Director Seenu Ramasamy is known for portraying human emotions at their simplest form. He has once again done that with ‘Maamanithan’.
Seenu’s vision is given life by the actors of the movie. Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie, Guru Somasundaram, Jewel Mary have given soul to their respective characters.
The chemistry between Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie is one of the major highlights of the film. Both of them have evolved so much as actors.
Guru Somasundaram is one of the biggest strengths of the movie and his performance moves the audience emotionally. Music by maestro Ilaiyaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja compliments the story well.

Rating: 3.5/5
