Ravi Mohan, a structural engineer, is a man against having kids. At his engagement, TJ Bhanu fails to show up due to their differing ideologies.
Nithya Menen, an architect, is in love with John Kokken. After their register marriage, John cheats on her with her best friend.
However, Nithya Menen asks John for one last favor, and it’s not divorce. This leads to Nithya’s fun-filled meeting with now-single Ravi.
However, their mutual attraction over the night is cut off due to their different wants in life.
Eight years later, they meet again and, with Bhanu back in the picture, Ravi’s life has truly taken a turn. But, have Ravi and Nithya’s preferences changed over the years? Will Ravi give one more chance to Bhanu? What happens next forms the core plot of the movie.
Director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi presents how mature and evolved relationships have become in society today as eventually the two of them do find solace in life without the institution of marriage.
However, such complex choices also come with their own set of social stigmas and issues and rhe movie addresses those too in a subtle, muted way.
The movie’s biggest strength is its performance by the lead cast – Nithya Menen and Ravi.
Nithya brings alive the longing of becoming a mother, and single parenting while having a successful career. She does it all and makes it look cool.
Ravi is effortless and the way his character undergoes a transformation is beautiful to watch as well.
Ravi Mohan and Nithya Menen share great screen chemistry and their performances are beautiful in their respective roles.
Supporting actors like Yogi Babu, Vinay Rai, Lal, Mano and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan don’t have too much to add to the film but John Kokken and Vinodhini Vaidyanathan are impactful in their small roles.
Cinematography by Gavemic U Ary is pleasant. AR Rahman’s music keeps the proceedings engaging.
