‘Annathae’ is the story of how a brother safeguards his sister from all the troubles that she faces.
Rajinikanth is very affectionate towards his sister Keerthy Suresh. He is a good samaritan who gets into trouble often and thus ends up going to the Court where he meets advocate Nayanthara. They both fall in love.
Meanwhile, there is Meena and Kushbhu who are blood relatives of Rajini and want to marry him. However, Rajini refuses to marry both of them as the other person will feel disappointed. Keerthy, who was studying abroad returns to the village and Rajini fixes her marriage.
But Keerthi is not interested in the marriage and goes missing later. Where did she go, what does Rajini do after this, what trouble does Keerthi get into forms the crux of the story.
Director Siva has stuck to his template and has delivered a sentimental action melodrama with a subtle message.
Rajinikanth has put in valiant efforts and looks more stylish and energetic than the recent movies. It is his screen presence which is one of the major strengths of the movie.
Keerthy Suresh gets to play an emotional role around whom the story revolves. Rest of the cast have delivered what was expected from them.
The antagonists in the movie could have been a little better. D Imman’s music is overpowering. Vetri Palanisamy’s camerawork is exceptional.
