Anabel Sethupathi

– Review

King Vijay Sethupathi and Taapsee Pannu lead a happy life in 1940s. The couple get poisoned to death in the palace which Vijay Sethupathi built for Taapsee.

The movie then moves on to 2021 where Taapsee, a petty thief is attracted to the palace. She moves in with her family only to find out that the place is haunted. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
Director Deepak Sundarrajan has tried to make a fantasy horror movie by making a spoof of other films. The movie’s major strength is the slapstick and situational comedy.
Ghosts of the past haunting a building is not something new in Kollywood. However, the fantasy element gives a different feel.
Taapsee does a decent job as Rudra and Annabelle. It is good to see her in a light role. Vijay Sethupathi is at ease in his character.
However, his role could have had more value. Yogi Babu, Raadhika and the rest of the cast have all performed well.
Music by Krishna Kishor is good.

Rating: 3/5
