Top Gun: Maverick

– Review

The second installment of Top Gun starring Tom Cruise has been released after 36 years.
There’s so much hype around the movie, let us see if it has lived up to the expectations.
Tom Cruise comes as an instructor at Top Gun and trained some youngsters for a specialised mission.
Among the troop is Miles Teller, who is the son of Maverick’s friends who dies in the first part.
This adds more emotional baggage on Maverick who is already feeling guilty for his friend’s death. How did Maverick handle the situation?
Was the team successful in accomplishing their mission forms the rest of the story.
The movie has several references from the first installment and is sure to take the audience on a nostalgic journey.
Director Joseph Kosinski has not just focused on Maverick and his team but also on their personal lives which makes the audience easily connect with their characters.
The director has also added enough twists, turns and does not miss a beat.
As far as the performances are concerned, Tom Cruise is at his best and takes the audience through the journey with ease.
There is enough action and emotional scenes for him to showcase his acting prowess.
Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Glen Powell have all done their part well. The technical aspects of the film are also rich and compliments the story well.
Overall, the movie is a complete rollercoaster ride.

Rating: 4/5
