Rain, pain & gain
Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan
– Review
‘Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan’ directed by Vijay Milton and featuring an ensemble cast explores themes of societal challenges and personal struggles through a mix of drama and emotion.
The film opens with an animated segment that delves into Salim’s (Vijay Antony) aversion to rainy weather, as suggested by the title. Salim and his wife lived in exile for years, but tragedy strikes when his wife is killed shortly after they step outside.
Salim, part of a covert organization alongside Sarathkumar and Sathyaraj (whose true roles remain mysterious), is rescued by Sathyaraj and sent to the Andaman Islands to start anew.
In the Andaman Islands, Salim befriends Burma (Pruthvi Ambar) and finds a family in his mother (Saranya Ponvannan), who operates a local Atho shop. Meanwhile, Daali (Daali Dhananjay), a feared gangster, makes life difficult for many. The film centers on the conflict between Daali and Salim, featuring numerous twists and turns.
Vijay Antony delivers a decent portrayal of the protagonist, capturing his internal conflicts throughout the film. Other actors also contribute significantly to the story, adding layers to the central narrative.
The screenplay weaves together various subplots, some are effective and some are not. The cinematography captures the essence of the setting and the mood of the film, enhancing the storytelling. The music complements the narrative well.
‘Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan’ stands out for it story line and good performances. It offers a poignant look at personal and societal issues, making it a thoughtful watch for those interested in character-driven dramas.
