Sachi wanted Karthi, Parthiepan to play lead roles in ‘AK’ Tamil remake

With the sudden demise of Malayalam filmmaker Sachi aka K R Sachidanandan sending shock waves across south Indian film industry, an interview given by him just before his death has been published in a Kerala-based portal.

In the interview, when the director was asked who he felt are apt to play the lead characters in the Tamil remake version of his much acclaimed ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, he said that Karthi and Parthiban are the right choices to replace Prithviraj and Biju respectively.

He also spoke about appreciation from A R Murugadoss and other things in the interview. Parthiepan, who has come across the interview, expressed surprise over the fact that the director himself had him in his mind.

The actor-filmmaker also said that he will watch the movie soon and that he would try to fulfill Sachi’s desire and that he hopes to get support from Malayalam industry to let that happen.

His tweet in Tamil reads: “அய்யப்பனும் கௌஷியும்’பிஜு மேனன் பாத்திரம் நான் நடித்தால் நன்றாக இருக்குமென பலரும் சொன்னார்கள். இயக்குனரே சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்-மகிழும் முன்னரே அவருக்கு RIP சொல்லும் நிலை-நிலைகுலைத்தது. இன்று படத்தை பார்க்கிறேன்.அவர் விருப்பம் ஈடேற முயன்று பார்க்கிறேன்.மலையாள நண்பர்கள் ஒத்துழைக்கலாம்.”

The 48-year-old director was recovering from a hip surgery when he suffered a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a leading hospital in Thrissur, but passed away without responding to treatment.
