Kalyani, who shot to fame as child artiste by acting alongside Prabhu Deva in the film ‘Alli Thandha Vaanam’, was later part of popular movies such as ‘Jayam’ and ‘Ramana’. She had also played heroine in a few films.
Kalyani then entered wedlock and stopped acting in films. However, she has said in a recent interview with an online portal that she quit acting because she had been facing sexual harassment.
Stating that she felt fortunate for having had the opportunity to act with Prabhu Deva at an early stage in her career, she however said that when she actually started getting lead roles, her mother received a call, asking that Kalyani should make “adjustments” to get casted in big movies.
Kalyani, who is currently in Bengaluru with her husband, has expressed disappointment that she did not get big movies because of these unethical practices in the industry. She said she bid adieu to film industry after those calls and later moved to small screens.
Kalyani however said she faced some amount of harassment in television industry too, following which she finally decided to stay away from media to lead a peaceful life.
