On Sunday evening, rumours flew thick and fast about the health of legendary singer S Janaki. Soon, film personalities and her family members clarified that she was doing fine.
While music composer Dhina released an audio to confirm that Janaki was fine, veteran singer S P Balasubrahmanyan spoke to Janaki personally over phone and urged fans to not believe rumours.
Actor-filmmaker Manobala posted: “No…its wrong news..she got a minor operation..she s ok now.” The veteran singer was recently seen playing a cameo in Vijay Sethupathi-Trisha starrer ’96’, it may be recalled.
Janaki is one of the best-known playback singers in India and has recorded nearly 48,000 songs in films, albums, TV and Radio including solos, duets and chorus songs in more than 17 languages including those native to India, mainly in Kannada, Malayalam,Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Odiya, Bengali, Tulu, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Sindhi, Assamese, Konkani and also in languages such as English, Japanese, Latin, Arabic, German, Sinhala, French, Bangla, Russian and Chinese.
Starting in 1957 with the Tamil film ‘Vidhiyin Vilayattu’, her career has spanned over six decades.
