The Tamil Nadu government’s medical expert team today said that they have not recommended for the extension of lockdown in the State.
Talking to journalists after meeting Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Prabhdeep Kaur, Scientist–E/Deputy Director, Indian Council of Medical Research–National Institute of Epidemiology, said spreading of the infection has come under control in Chennai due to the existing lockdown.
She however said, “Lockdown alone cannot be the solution to control the spread of virus. We told the government that the infrction increased due to public transportation.”
Prabhdeep added that the committee has recommended to increase control measures in containment zones. “We are planning to implement one treatment method across the State,” she added.
