With Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging people to use products made in India, director-actor Tharun Bhascker and his mother and veteran actress Geetha Bhascker have requested people to follow it.
Tharun posted: “For decades, we have used global brands as a façade to appear superior. In the recent announcement by our PM, regarding the lockdown 4.0, he went on to ask us to support “local” brands and be vocal about it.”
He added: “Adopt positive changes to become conscious consumers. Let’s research where our products come from, how they are sourced. Self sustainable homes will be the future – time to make India self sustainable too. Lets display patriotism where it matters – let’s #golocal!.”
For her part, Geetha Bhascker, who shared a picture of her eating a local popsicle, wrote, “I am for it already ..absolutely #vocal for local.” During his address to the nation on Tuesday night, Modi batted for a self-reliant India in response to the new global realities spawned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
