Coronavirus has hit the world hard and film industry is no exception. With shootings and other works coming to a halt due to the lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19, our celebrities are staying indoors. But, they are not idle.
Many of them are actively spreading awareness on coronavirus and its impacts. They have been asking their fans and people to not come out of their houses, to protect themselves and others from the pandemic. As part of its Friday special article series, Mykollywood.com highlights the awareness initiatives of our actors and actresses.
Kamal Haasan appears in a video which is being aired on Vijay TV at regular intervals. In the clip, the actor-politician urges people to stay indoors and to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
“Protect yourself and protect others. If you have symptoms of coronavirus, please don’t hesitate to contact your nearby government health centre. Let us stay inside our houses,” he says.
Trisha, known for working towards social causes, has joined hands with UNICEF to spread awareness on coronavirus, which is creating its deadly impact all over the world.
In a video, Trisha is seen explaining how one should follow personal hygiene by washing their hands for 20 seconds. The actress also said that in case if people have a fever, trouble in breathing and cough, they should contact the nearest doctors. “Also, people should cover their mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing,” she said.
Actor Arjun has released a video, urging people to stay indoors and to follow the guidelines issued by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He said in the video, “I have said it before and will say it again, for the government to be able to help us; we need to help it in return too. We have been asked to not go out but a certain percentage of citizens still don’t listen, I don’t understand why.
Understand that this is serious and use your common sense. The whole world is on a lockdown. They haven’t asked you to do much other than stay at home with your family. Please stay home to save yourself and your family both. We need to look at this with a positive perspective.”
He added: “I’ve also been plagued by the fact that doctors and policemen are being beaten up. The people who are trying to protect you by leaving their own families at home and taking risk are the ones we’re beating up. We should treat them like gods, not treat them without humanity.”
“Wearing a mask is not just for our own safety, but for our family, too. At such times, it is important to wear mask to avoid the virus from spreading while talking to others and vice versa.”
“This issue is serious and the only thing we can do right now is to stay at home — you won’t get infected and you will not infect someone else. Maintain personal hygiene, don’t go out, and break this chain. Always wash your hands, sanitise yourself, and if you must venture out, wear a mask.”
“Thought of sharing some insightful Lessons frm Ramayana that we can reflect & apply during this Covid19 crisis. WHEN Ram was suddenly subjected to Vanavas for 14 years – The first thing he did was realising that the occurrence of this situation was beyond his control & accepted it GRACEFULLY. We have only been given some days of Grihavaas, we can accept that cheerfully. After deep thinking about the current situation, he along with sita & Laxman decided that they must dedicate these 14 years to develop their MENTAL FACULTIES. We must use this time to Develop our faculties & mk contributions as well. If Bharath could manage to administer an entire kingdom without being in the city, then we can manage to do our work from hom. Kaikeyi believed in rumours that seemed to be in her favor & caused total destruction. Be very careful in what u believe & share.
Lakshman was completely vigilant & kept guard for 14 years, we can be vigilant for some days & prevent the virus frm entering our homes. Seeta was confined to Ashok Vatika for a whole year & was subjected to harsh mental torture but she kept her spirits up by thinking of the Lord. We can definitely do the same.Hanuman changed his size, his approach, his strategy continuously as the situation demanded but ensured the job was done. We need to be innovative to make sure we complete our tasks & accept the changing circumstances. In this moment of strife, There is so much we can learn from our beautiful Epics. Do share ur reflections & learnings as well.”
“When the Coronavirus finally exhausts itself and the danger is over, let’s do something good for our country. Let’s spend our holidays in India, eat in local restaurants, buy local fruits and veggies, buy clothes and shoes from Indian brands and support local businesses.
These businesses are going to find it difficult to get back on their feet and survive without our help, Let’s do our bit in helping each other stand and grow!”
