Director’s Vetrimaaran’s ‘Asuran’ starring Dhanush in the lead emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema in 2019. It is now being remade in Telugu, with Venkatesh playing the lead role.
Meanwhile, the latest buzz about the movie is that it would soon be remade in Kannada and the Kannada version would be bankrolled by none other than Vetrimaaran.
It is said that talks are on with Shivarajkumar to play the lead role and a leading Sandalwood director would wield the megaphone. Currently, Vetrimaaran is also busy with the script works of his two new films- ‘Vaadi Vaasal’ with Suriya as protagonist and a yet untitled film starring Soori in the lead role.
‘Asuran’ is an action drama period film written and directed by Vetrimaaran and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his production banner V Creations. It is based on the novel ‘Vekkai’ by Poomani.
The film stars Dhanush and Manju Warrier in lead roles, where the latter makes her Tamil debut. G V Prakash Kumar scored the music for the film, rejoining back his association with Vetrimaaran. Cinematography was handled by Velraj, whereas editing was done by R Ramar. ‘Asuran’ was released on 4 October 2019. The film’s plot is influenced by the real life Kilvenmani massacre that occurred in 1968.
